CNOOC appoints new chair

Yang Hua has been appointed as chairman of the board and chairman of the nomination committee of CNOOC.  This appointment followed the resignation of Wang Yilin from his positions at CNOOC as chairman of the board, chairman of the nomination committee and non-executive director of CNOOC. Additionally, Yang will no longer serve as vice-chairman of the board. These appointments and changes are effective 19 May 2015. 

Yang is a senior engineer with a degree in petroleum engineering from China University of Petroleum. He also received an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at MIT as a Sloan Fellow.

Yang joined CNOOC in 1982 and has over 30 years of experience in petroleum exploration and production. From 1982 to 1992, Yang served in a number of positions at the CNOOC research center, acting as director of field development and reservoir engineering.

Thereafter, Yang was mainly involved in international business, corporate finance and capital market operations for CNOOC.
