Statoil gets Norwegian Sea nod

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway granted Statoil consent for exploration drilling at its operated production license 602 in block 6706/11 in the Norwegian Sea.

The field is located around 233km from the nearest mainland at Skomvær in the county of Nordland.

Drilling is scheduled to begin in June 2015 and estimated to last 28 days, depending on whether a discovery is made.

Drilling will be performed using Transocean Spitsbergen semisubmersible mobile drilling facility of the Aker H-6e type.
