Brazil’s 13th round gains more approvals

Brazil’s National Petroleum, Natural Gas, and Biofuels agency (ANP) has approved registrations for a total of 37 companies for the country’s 13th bid round, of which 22 are from outside of Brazil.

Fifteen companies from Brazil, in addition to companies from Angola, Argentina, Bermuda, Canada, China, Colombia, US, France, Holland, Japan, Norway, Panama, Portugal, UK, Russia, and Thailand, will all be competing for 266 blocks in 22 sectors of 10 sedimentary basins, totaling approximately 125,000sq km located in 12 states.

The 13th bid round is less than a month away, on 7 October.

Newcomers to the approval list include: US-based Anadarko and ExxonMobil Corp.; UK’s BP and Premier Oil; Russia’s Rosneft; Nowegian giant Statoil; France’s Total; China’s CNOOC Petroleum and Tek  Oil; Brazil’s GEOPAR, Black Gold Oil & Gas, Parnaiba Natural Gas, Geneva Preview, Petrobras, Orion Holding Participações, QGEP Participações, Tecnolumen, TSL Participações, UTC Participações; Japan’s Mitsui; Argentina’s Indalo Group; Portugal’s Partex; Thailand’s PTTEP; and Bermuda’s Azimuth Group.

Companies that had already received approved include:

Canada’s Alvopetro; Brazil’s BTG Pactual, Petro Rio, EP Imetame, PetroRecôncavo, and Vipetro Petróleo; Panama’s Synergy Group; Colombia’s Ecopetrol; Portugal’s Galp Energia; France’s GDF Suez; Bermuda’s Geopark; Shell Brazil; and Angola’s Sonangol.

The ANP said that unlike previous rounds, the qualification process will only be made to the winning companies.
