Badger inks MOU with CNPC

Published

Norwegian technology firm Badger Explorer has signed a memorandum of understanding with China's CNPC DR, signaling the firm's intention to become a full partner in the Badger Explorer development program.

The Badger Explorer is a new formation and reservoir evaluation tool which drills into the subsurface without the risks, cost and complexity of drilling an exploration well with a rig.

The tool drills into the subsurface and buries itself. It features a slim electrically powered drilling system and carries sensors, which continuously record data, producing logs while drilling, and providing continuous, long-term data in surveillance mode.

The Badger Development Program 2015 focused on developing the cuttings transport system as well as the ultrasonic transducers for the Badger Tool.

Badger Explorer has been working with its sponsoring partners to agree the Scope of work and funding for The Badger Development Program 2016, where focus will be on further developing the Drilling System for the Badger Tool.

BXPL and CNPC DR (China National Petroleum Company Drilling Research institute) intend to sign a formal contract before end of Q1 2016.
