China's CNPC, Mozambique to cooperate

The heads of Chinese oil firm CNPC and Mozambique's state oil firm ENH have signed a cooperation framework agreement over work in the oil and gas exploration and production market.

CNPC is a partner in the Eni-operated Block 4, offshore Mozambique - the firm's first ultra-deep subsea natural gas and LNG project in East Africa. CNPC says it is also the largest individual project of a Chinese enterprise in the country.

Under the agreement, signed in the presence of the heads of state of China and Mozambique during a meeting in Beijing,

CNPC is to "actively participate in Mozambique's exploration and production projects, promote cooperation in gas field services, and cultivate technicians and managerial talents for Mozambique's oil industry."

CNPC is also involved in oilfield services and engineering construction projects in Mozambique, such as geophysical prospecting, pipeline construction, project contracting, and equipment supply.
