James Fisher acquires R2S technology firm

UK-based marine and nuclear services group James Fisher and Sons has taken over Aberdeen-based R2S.

R2S, or Return to Scene, developed visualization and asset management software based on forensic investigation technologies.

But, the firm's parent company, SeaEnergy, moved to sell off the business, its main asset, earlier this year, after facing financial difficulties. Following the sale, SeaEnergy has gone into administration.

James Fisher has acquired R2S including its R2S Visual Asset Management (VAM), R2S Forensic, and digital product provider Max and Co.

James Fisher says the move will enhance its expertise and abilities in asset integrity and management services in a wide range of markets worldwide.

"The pioneering use of technology, that delivers dynamic, visual asset management solutions across a broad spectrum of applications and industries, will further consolidate and strengthen James Fisher’s existing capabilities and provide further added value to clients," the firm said.

R2S VAM is an asset integrity and management solution that combines visual asset data and current and historic production and maintenance data.

R2S Forensic provides incident investigation and planning products and services for complex security situations and is used by police forces across the UK, Europe, US and Canada.

Max and Co delivers digital visualization and communication solutions to a wide range of leading industry clients such as GE, Fugro, DNV and Peak.
