Eni to drill two wells at Goliat with Scarabeo 8

Published

Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has granted Eni consent to use Scarabeo 8 at Goliat, which will drill two production wells, in the Barents Sea.

One of the two wells to be drilled is for oil production, while the other is for water injection.

A pilot hole will be drilled first and the production well drilled as a sidetrack from this. Horizontal drilling will be used and the well has been designated 7122/7-C-1 AH. The water injection well has been designated 7122/7-H-2 H and this will entail directional drilling.

Drilling is scheduled to begin on 24 June 2017.

Goliat is an oil field in the Barents Sea, around 85km northwest of Hammerfest. The field has been developed using a circular integrated facility. The wells are drilled from subsea templates which are tied back to the facility. Production at Goliat began in March 2016.
