Subsea and offshore solutions provider Unique Group, together with engineering, construction and equipment rental company Innovo, have completed a multimillion dollar decommissioning contract for Italian marine oil and gas contractor Saipem offshore Saudi Arabia.

Unique Group and Innovo provided bespoke equipment for the project within a tight delivery schedule. The team helped with the design, manufacturing and delivery of the equipment in less than four months. The contract for equipment supply was awarded in January 2018, and the first campaign kicked off in May.

There were four platforms during first campaign, which concluded ahead of schedule in August, and six platforms during a second ongoing campaign.

Internal and external dredging tools, diamond wire cutting tools and internal cutting tools based on abrasive water jet technology, operating at 1,500 bar, were provided for the project along with skilled operators to support the operation.

Stefano Malagodi, Managing Director of Innovo, said, “This project exemplifies Innovo’s and Unique Group’s capabilities in the decommissioning arena, where close collaboration, innovative engineering, tight project management and safe operations are paramount.”

Rakesh Bangera, Division Manager at Unique Group, said, “Our aim is to be a trusted partner for our clients right from the design stage up until the delivery so that all the requirements are duly met. The emphasis on providing innovative solutions has always been of utmost importance to us.”
