Denmark's Ramboll has acquired Apply Altra in Aberdeen from Norway's Apply Group, and renamed it Ramboll Oil & Gas.
Under the Ramboll name, the former Apply Altra will continue to deliver facilities engineering capability to the oil, gas & renewables industry.
"Presence in the UK and especially in Aberdeen has been on our wish list for several years, and with the acquisition of Apply Altra, we have a building block on which to base our future presence in the UK", says Executive Director at Ramboll Oil & Gas, Trond Helland Bynes.
"This is a strategic move for Ramboll, and we are therefore looking for an ambitious manager to spearhead the office and drive future development. The divestment is due to a strategic review in Apply, where Altra was considered a non-core activity for us. We are therefore pleased that the company and its employees now is becoming part of Rambøll", says Apply CEO Peder Sortland.
Altra was formed over 20 years ago in response to demand from operators for a more responsive, focused and cost-effective engineering service.
"It is our ambition to service our oil and gas clients where ever they decide to go, and that is another reason why it is essential for Ramboll to be present in Aberdeen. Aberdeen is the number one city for offshore oil and gas in the UK sector of the North Sea, and having a local presence will facilitate the daily contact to our clients and at the same time be a basis for expanding our client portfolio", says Bynes.
With presence in Norway, Denmark and now also the UK, Ramboll covers all sectors in the North Sea.
Over the years, Apply Altra has carried out engineering for 2,500 facilities for clients such as Maersk Oil, Total, Apache, and Dana Petroleum.
"Over time we want to develop the Aberdeen office into a multidisciplinary, full service provider of energy consultancy to even better service our UK-based clients and the international market serviced out of the UK", Bynes states.
