Tuesday, May 14, 2019

Decom North Sea has released its agenda, while announcing award finalists ahead of this year’s Decom Offshore conference/exhibition and Decom Awards.

The one-day conference, entitled “Activating the Supply Chain”, will take place in Aberdeen on May 29 and is expected to welcome more than 350 players from across the late life and decommissioning sector.

Now in its seventh year, the conference continues to address key challenges within the industry, with the 2019 agenda bringing new topics to the table. These include The Human Face of Decommissioning, which will examine human factors within the sector and the key part they play in cost efficiency, safety and sustainability. The topic of aggregation/economies of scale will also come under the spotlight, highlighting how far the industry has come in terms of alliances across the operating and supply chain community, and what can be done to increase the benefits of those alliances.

The evening prior to the conference, the 2nd annual Decom Awards will showcase decommissioning excellence in innovation and collaboration, whilst highlighting the young professionals of the industry who have demonstrated significant capability and impact in their sector. The dinner will also welcome guest speaker CEO of HeliOffshore, Gretchen Haskins; an aviation industry leader in safety performance improvement and an internationally-recognised expert in human factors.

Finalists are: Outstanding Innovation Award - Deep Casing Tools, Ecosse IP Ltd and Sentinel Subsea; Excellence in Collaboration category - Systems Engineering & Assessment Ltd (SEA) and Spirit Energy, Ardent and The Oil and Gas Technology Center, and Spirit Energy and The Oil and Gas Technology Center.

The three finalists in the Young Professionals category are: David Hoang, Graduate Project Engineer Bilfinger Salamis; Johnny Morton, Technical Support Engineer, Bilfinger Salamis, and Rebecca Allan, Decommissioning Lead, Xodus Group.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony and dinner at Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Center on Tuesday May 28, hosted by Andrea Brymer.

Decom North Sea’s Chief Executive, John Warrender, said, “At Decom North Sea we are committed to enhancing access to knowledge for our members and facilitating a collaborative approach within the sector. The conference provides a terrific forum for discussion of pressing topics and a chance to address the challenges facing us all.

“As for the awards, it’s great to see such a high quality of submissions being entered. They demonstrate the expertise and talent that exists within the sector, which is hugely encouraging. I would like to congratulate all those who have been shortlisted for the 2019 awards, and we look forward to celebrating the winners at the ceremony later this month.”
