Italian scaffolding and formwork manufacturer Pilosio sees its E5 million contract with lead contractor Saipem Canada for Alberta’s Sunrise oil sands project as the key to its future expansion into the oil & gas market, both onshore and offshore.

The Friuli-based company’s CEO Dario Roustayan said major factors in securing this contract – the biggest yet for its multidirectional scaffolding – were product reliability and a guaranteed on-site technical support. ‘Marketing wise, this order will allow us to enter a new and important market,’ he said, adding that Pilosio would now look to consolidate its Canadian presence while at the same time seeking new oil & gas business opportunities in South America, India and the Middle East.
