A second production well on Nexen Petroleum's Blackbird field in the UK North Sea has reached 7000bbl/d under a constrained production test, according to partner Atlantic Petroleum.

The well, 20/02a-B3, was constrained by surface equipment. It is being drilled and tested using the Noble Ton V Langeveld semisubmersible drilling rig. The well will now be tied into the Aoka Mizu FPSO facilities and full production will start following the ongoing planned shutdown.

Blackbird is operated by Nexen Petroleum UK with 73.02957% equity, with partners Nexen Ettrick UK (17.57270%) and Atlantic Petroleum UK (9.39773%).

Ben Arabo, CEO, commented: “We are very pleased with the well test results from the B3 well and look forward to the production boost when the tie-in is completed.”
