The Energy Industries Council (EIC), the leading trade association for UK companies that supply goods and services to the energy industries worldwide, will be the focal point of attention at Offshore Europe this September as the largest single exhibitor at the show.

The EIC Pavilion, in Hall 3 of the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, will host 42 companies at the largest oil & gas event outside North America with 63,000 people attending in 2013.

Visitors to the EIC Pavilion, which will feature an upgraded stand design and private lounge area sponsored by gas detection specialists Crowcon Detection Instruments, will be able to see at first hand the innovative solutions the UK supply chain provides to the offshore oil & gas sector.

Visitors will also be able to talk to EIC staff on how the EIC can support their organizations’ business development activities. Representatives from all the EIC’s overseas offices (Dubai, Houston, Kuala Lumpur and Rio De Janeiro) will be available as well as EIC membership, events, training and business development specialists.

In addition, the EIC will also be announcing a new version of its global projects database, EICDataStream at the show with a launch event taking place on the morning of Wednesday September 9th. New features include a ‘Contract Award’ search facility that also shows sub-contracts in tracking the over 9000 projects proposed or under development in the global energy industry.

The EIC’s involvement in Offshore Europe 2015 comes at a time of growing challenges in the European offshore oil & gas sector with analysis of contracting activity in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) showing a steady a decline in the award of major contracts since 3Q 2013, according to EICDataStream.

However, the news is slightly more positive offshore Norway where, while there was a substantial fall in contracts between 4Q 2014 and 1Q 2015 according to EICDataStream, 2Q 2015 has seen a number of contracts awarded across five significant developments - Wintershall’s Maria oil field, and Statoil’s Gina Krog oil and gas field, the Oseburg future development, Njord A and the Johan Sverdrup development.

“Offshore Europe is a showcase event for the UK energy supply chain and the EIC is delighted to be yet again providing a platform for such companies to highlight their expertise and innovative solutions,” said Claire Miller, CEO at the EIC.

She continues: “While times are undoubtedly challenging, opportunities still exist for the supply chain. With new discoveries being made and existing discoveries yet to be developed, should contracting costs continue to drop and the price of oil stabilize, the outlook for the UK supply chain longer-term still looks promising.”
