Centrica has awarded a string of contracts to FMC Technologies, Subsea 7 and Aker BP / Maersk Drilling, for its Oda field development in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The Oda oil field (previously called Butch) was discovered in 2011, in the southern part of the Norwegian North Sea, about 14km east of the Ula field. It is estimated to contain 30-70 MMboe, of which 95% is oil. Production is due to start in 2019, with peak production at about 35,000 boe/d.

FMC Technologies has been awarded a contract to supply the subsea template with associated subsea production system.

Subsea 7's scope covers EPCIC of subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) including the production pipeline, water injection line, umbilical and related subsea services. Subsea 7 and FMC are part of Centrica;s strategic partner alliance, signed in Autumn 2015.

Maersk Drilling will supply a drilling rig to drill three wells - two production and one water injection - on Oda using the Maersk Interceptor jackup, which is on a long-term contract to Aker BP, which operates the Ivar Aasen license, which the Oda license partners have agreed a deal with over the rig lease. Drilling is due to start in 2018 and the rig deal includes options to drill exploration wells on the Centrica operated Cassidy prospect near Oda (previously called Butch).

Aker BP, which operates the Ula facilities, will use Aker Solutions for topsides modifications work, which will include work related to fabricating new caissons for Oda risers and umbilicals.

Project management and engineering will start immediately from Subsea 7's office in Stavanger, Norway, with offshore operations scheduled to start in 2018.

Centrica Norway is the operator of Oda and has a 40%. Partners are Suncor Energy Norway (30%), Faroe Petroleum (15%) and Tullow Oil Norway (15%).
