Ophir Production has contracted a vessel for its Ophir floating production field development offshore Malaysia.
The tanker Puteri Bangsa will be converted into the MTC Ledang floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) unit by Malaysian firm MTC Engineering for use on the Ophir field. Work on the conversion is due to start shortly, says Octanex, 50% partner of Ophir Production.
The vessel will have a small process facility module with capacity for 15,000 barrels of fluids per day and gas flaring and storage for up to 350,000 bo. Export will be via an 8in flexible pipeline to the Ophir platform.
The vessel will be deployed on the Ophir field, offshore Peninsular Malaysia. the field is being developed using three wells, a well head platform and the FPSO.
The vessel will be contracted at the Ophir field for three years with a one-year extension period.
Ophir Production Berhad is operator (50% Octanex owned) with with partner Sabah International Petroleum.
