DONG Energy A/S shareholders approved at an extraordinary general meeting today (30 October) the company changing its name to Ørsted A/S.

The company is changing its name to match its strategic transformation from black to green energy following its divestment of its oil and gas production. As a result of the name change, the company's ticker symbol is changing to Orsted, effective at the start of trading on 31 October 2017.

“Ørsted is a signal of our Danish roots – and our vision of creating a world that runs entirely on green energy,” said Thomas Thune Andersen, chairman of the board of directors, Ørsted. “The new name has already been well received in Denmark and abroad."
