Offshore Achievement Awards deadline weeks away

The trophy for this year's Offshore Achievement Awards in Aberdeen has been picked, with less than a month to go now until entries close for the Society of Petroleum Engineers' organized event, supported by OE (Offshore Engineer).

Each year the organizers of the awards, the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Aberdeen Section, runs a competition for Robert Gordon University students to design the sought after trophy.

After weeks of research and intensive work on building prototypes, third year students studying Three Dimensional Design at Gray’s School of Art pitched their concepts to a judging panel. The standard of design was very high, and after hard thought deliberation by the panel of six judges, Robin Pioche was announced as the winner of the 2017 competition.

Ian Phillips, SPE Aberdeen Chairman, said: “We have been blown away by the ever higher standard of designs we see each year. It was an incredibly difficult job to choose just one, but Robin’s design really stood out for us and embodied the ethos of the Offshore Achievement Awards. We particularly liked his use of metals that will gradually corrode, changing colour and visibly representing the passage of time.”

Entries to the Offshore Achievement Awards, sponsored by Taqa, are open until Thursday November 30.

The black tie ceremony will take place at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Thursday 22 March 2018.

Submissions are welcome from UK based companies operating offshore in both the oil and gas and renewables sectors. For further information and entry criteria, please visit www.spe-oaa.org
