Cantium picks OPEX predictive tech for US GoM

An Aberdeen-based predictive technology firm Operational Excellence (OPEX) Group has signed a five-year master service agreement (MSA) with US Gulf of Mexico operator Cantium.

It's the first international agreement for the firm, which currently provides predictive data solutions for several UK Continental Shelf operators.

The MSA will see OPEX and Cantium work together to drive operational efficiency and streamlined maintenance and production gains through the smart application of predictive technologies.

Last year, Cantium, a new company, acquired Chevron's Bay Marchand and Main Pass assets. The acquisition included five fields on the Gulf of Mexico’s Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) and in Louisiana state waters. This included 300 active wells, 151 platforms, caissons, and other offshore structures, along with the Port Fourchon onshore treatment plant.

Jamie Bennett, CEO of OPEX, says: “OPEX has pioneered a Predictive Analysis Service (X-PAS) for the oil and gas industry that enables operators to increase oil and gas production and prevent critical system outages.

“By applying predictive technology and advanced data analysis techniques we identify potential threats and emerging issues far in advance to help operators maximize production uptime, reduce operational risk and improve performance."

Cantium CEO Richard Kirkland said: “Leveraging digital technologies is a core element of Cantium’s strategy to optimize the management, maintenance and performance of these late life fields.

“Working alongside OPEX will ensure we have the depth of information required to make data-driven decisions to improve our operations and identify new, more effective ways of working.”
