Offshore equipment and engineered solutions provider Gulfstream Services International (GSI) said it has moved into its new Aberdeen headquarters as part of an effort targeting expansion in the North Sea and beyond.

The firm has expanded into an 8,000-square-foot workshop where it will manufacture and then deliver its equipment throughout the Eastern Hemisphere.

With plans to increase headcount from 15 to 18 by the end of the year and a strong focus on North Sea decommissioning activity, GSI has invested £3 million into its stock of rental equipment available from the Aberdeen base, including shearing and grappling technology. The company said it will continue to develop its decommissioning product-line for its clients globally.

Caroline Grant, Gulfstream Services UK Director, said, "Our move to new premises is an exciting chapter for the team in Aberdeen. The opportunities for our decommissioning services, especially in deep water and harsh environments, continue to grow and we are delighted to be working on some significant projects that will highlight the huge time and cost savings our hydraulic shear technology can offer.

“By providing a decommissioning service which not only operates a maximum capacity throughout the year, but also contributes to the Oil & Gas Authority’s 35% cost reduction target, we are confident that our long-standing cold-cutting and recovery tool solutions will continue to provide the evolving decommissioning sector with the service it requires.

“We are proud to have delivered over 15,000 cuts globally, since we launched our services in 2006 and the team continues to work hard to build on our reputation of delivering projects for our clients worldwide.”

With a track record grown over 30 years, the new Aberdeen base is supported by the global GSI network including the company's newly opened Houston base.
