Hamburg-based offshore service provider SeaRenergy announced it has acquired Elbe-1, an engineering company that offers expertise and consultancy for design, certification and approval of offshore wind projects.

Whereas SeaRenergy provides engineering, marine services, QHSE and offshore professionals for installation and O&M of offshore wind farms and platforms, Elbe-1 offers specialists and support for the planning of offshore wind farms globally, including but not limited to process of design, certification and permits.

Elbe-1 founder Hagen Heesch remains the Managing Director of the company and will also contribute to the further growth and development of SeaRenergy group in the international offshore wind industry.

“The umbrella of SeaRenergy will enable the Elbe-1 team to grow its business not only by relying on the additional resources and expertise of the new colleagues but will also enable us to present a much stronger setup to our clients and to the overseas markets in USA, Japan, Taiwan and others,” said Hagen Heesch, MD of Elbe-1.

Dr. Benjamin Vordemfelde, MD of SeaRenergy, said, “Joining forces between SeaRenergy and Elbe-1 generates a company with an excellent service portfolio which comprises the complete life cycle of any offshore wind or platform project from early planning and permit process to installation, commissioning and OMR. In addition, it enables synergies with Con4Mare, a specialist in marine warranty surveys and part of the SeaRenergy group since 2013.”

The acquisition became effective on July 27, and the joint work has already commenced.
