Modus grows AUV division

Published

Subsea engineering and unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) service provider Modus Seabed Intervention has taken delivery of its first autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV).

The acquisition is part of a planned investment program by the north-east England company to develop a dedicated division, operating a fleet of AUV units, to provide survey and inspection services across offshore field development life cycles.

The division is headed by ex-Royal Navy senior mine warfare officer and officer in command fleet unmanned underwater vehicles Richard Hill.

Modus have also recently appointed two further AUV specialists, former Royal Navy AUV operator Bernard Carroll and former Kongsberg AUV technician, Rob Cowdrey.

Modus is involved in subsea trenching, survey, inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM), and construction support operations, across the world, operating a fleet of trenching and work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) spreads and equipment.
