Claxton bags its biggest contract

UK-based Acteon group company Claxton has been awarded its largest single riser contract in its history by Norway's Det norske oljeselskap.

The multi-year contract is from January 2014 thru June 2020, and includes high- and low-pressure risers, auxiliary equipment, and services offshore Norway.

The work scope includes procuring high- and low-pressure surface risers for the lvar Aasen field development; the rental of a Claxton 18.3/4in., 7000 psi subsea riser for the Hanz field; the rental of 18.3/4in., 15,000 psi high and 30in. low-pressure surface risers for exploration wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf; options for other field development projects; and high-pressure, high-temperature work during the contract period. The optional services include complete running services for the equipment and providing centralizer systems along with lateral and vertical tension rings.

Laura Claxton, Claxton's managing director, said, “We are very pleased to have secured this contract, which underlines Claxton’s position as the pre-eminent riser supply house in the North Sea and demonstrates that clients value our experience, technical approach and capabilities.”

Claxton continued, “Claxton secured the contract because of its wide range of pressure, connection, bore and complete system options, which is the most comprehensive offering in the North Sea sector. With more than 4000 inventory items, we support one of the biggest call-off stocks of risers in the region – an inventory that is continually expanding. The contract with Det norske oljeselskap ASA is one step in a journey that will see Claxton grow to become a significant operation in Norway.”
