Rem Offshore orders ice class OCV

Vard Holdings Limited has secured a contract for the design and construction of one offshore construction and anchor handling vessel (OCV) for Rem Offshore.

The contract value is approximately NOK800 million (US$1.3 million). The vessel will be the VARD 2 06 design (pictured), recently developed by Vard Design in Ålesund, Norway.

Delivery is scheduled from Vard Brattvaag in Norway 1Q 2016. The hull will be delivered from Vard Tulcea in Romania.

The 100m-long OCV is will feature an A-frame and winch system operating in parallel with an active heave-compensated offshore crane with more than 3000m range on the main hook. The crane will have a capacity of 150ton.

With a bollard pull of approximately 400ton, the vessel can operate in deep water. It will be able to accomodate 90 people, including offices, work stations, and a launch and recovery system for ROV installation.

The VARD 2 06 design is DNV GL ice-classed ICE-1B with a winterization notation.
