FES, Francis Brown complete Ichthys work

Published

Flexible Engineered Solutions International (FES) and Francis Brown Ltd. completed contracted work on Inpex’s Ichthys liquefied natural gas project off Australia.

FES supplied diverless bend stiffener connectors (DBSC) for the floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel, while Francis Brown worked for FES and produced 50 umbilical connectors for the project.

The project’s long life made it a demanding technical challenge and the solution had to be extremely robust and resistant to corrosion, marine growth and calcareous deposits, FES said.

FES began pursuing the contract in December 2010 and subsequently, won this contract in mid-September. The DBSCs were produced and are being delivered in phases between October 2013 and September 2014.

FES and Francis Brown are part of the UK-based 470-member NOF Energy organization.
