Lundin Petroleum shows how the production platform for the Edvard Grieg field has moved from the drawing board to reality, and is now beginning to resemble a real offshore platform. First oil from the field is scheduled during the 4Q 2015.
The Edvard Grieg’s topside is being assembled at Kvaerner’s yard at Stord and the process module is being manufactured at Aker Solutions yard in Egersund.
When the topside is assembled on to the jacket, the installation will have a total height of 257m, including the flare tower. The jacket weighs approximately 14,500-tonne, and the topside 21,000-tonne.
Earlier this year the jacket was successfully delivered from Kvaerner Verdal and installed offshore at the field location, while the living quarter was delivered to the yard at Stord from Apply Leirvik.
The Edvard Grieg field was discovered by well 16/1-8 drilled in 2007. The appraisal well 16/1-18 was drilled 2.4km east of the Edvard Grieg production platform.
