Teekay vessel to be converted to Libra FPSO

Deltamarin Ltd. entered into a contract with Jurong Shipyard Pte Ltd. for the conversion of Teekay’s Navion Norvegia to the Libra floating production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO), for operations in the Libra field, offshore Brazil.

The US$4 million contract includes the marine part of the Navion Norvegia shuttle tanker conversion into the Libra FPSO, which will take place at Singapore’s Jurong Shipyard. Work is set to be completed during 2Q 2015.

The Libra FPSO is scheduled for completion in 3Q 2016 and will be operated by OOGTK Libra GmbH & Co KG,a 50:50 joint venture between Odebrecht Oil & Gas and Teekay Offshore.

Operations for the Libra FPSO are planned for 4Q 2016. Production capacity will be 50,000bbl/d and 4MMcm/d of gas injection.

According to Deltamarin, the contract guarantees the continuation of its involvement in the Libra project as the company has earlier participated in the outline phase design of the unit.

This week, Brazil’s Petrobras announced an oil discovery in the Libra field. Well 3-RJS-731 confirmed the discovery of good quality oil in the northwestern portion of the structure. Petrobras said the discovery was observed through fluid profiles and samples.

Petrobras operates Libra with 40% interest with partners Shell (20%), Total (20%), CNPC (10%) and CNOOC Ltd. (10%), with the management of the contract to Pre-Sal Petroleo SA (PPSA).
