Celera breaks into Middle East

Celera Support Services has broken into the Middle East market with its largest ever contract win.

The firm has landed a £1.5million deal with diving and marine services firm Subtech in Qatar.

The Scottish business, which was set up less than three years ago, providing catering and facilities management support to the oil industry, has now added another 13 staff to its workforce following the new long-term contract.

Under the deal, Celera employees are supporting a 100-strong team on the Mubarak Supporter barge on projects in waters off Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates working for Saipem and Saudi Aramco. The vessel is now on its first project in Saudi waters.

Celera director John Wigglesworth said: “We are delighted at this contract win. It is our biggest deal to date and it also marks our entry into the Middle East market.”

Wigglesworth believes there are big opportunities around the globe for his firm - particularly in the UK, south-east Asia and the Middle East.

The Subtech contract is Celera’s third major long-term deal in just six months. The Scottish company, which now employs more than 40 people worldwide, was set up by Wigglesworth and fellow director Paul Whittingham at the end of 2011.

Celera has already exceeded its business plan targets for 2015. In the next five years, Wigglesworth would like its worldwide workforce to expand to 150 and annual turnover to hit £10million.

“We plan to build our business in managed stages, while delivering ‘best in class’ services to existing clients,  building trust through delivery and not to grow too big too soon,” added Mr Wigglesworth.
