The fire broke out early Wednesday morning around 2:30 a.m., and was contained in a small area of the vessel.

All non-essential personnel on board were immediately evacuated as a precaution with no injuries reported.

Furgo said emergency services were in attendance and the fire was extinguished. All personnel returned to the vessel once it was confirmed safe to do so.

A Fugro team is onboard to investigate the cause of the incident.

The Bahamas-registered vessel is a purpose built ROV support vessel designed for deepwater remote intervention, construction and survey markets.

Delivered in May 2011, the DNV classified vessel is equipped with a 150-tonne knuckle-boom crane with active heave compensation, capable of operating to 3000m, plus a separate 10-tonne auxiliary subsea crane.

Fugro Subsea Services is the operator of the vessel.
