Geoquip’s Deep Investigator ready to go

Published

Geoquip Marine’s DP2 vessel, the Deep Investigator, is now fully operational after having completed significant vessel conversions, including the installation of a moonpool, the modernization of the accommodations and the installation of the GMR600 drill rig.

Sea trials were completed successfully in March. The GMR600 drilling package is designed to maximize safe operational time on the drill floor and minimize manual handling. It is equipped with a mechanical drill pipe handling system that can be accessed and operated from the drilling console cabin. The vessel provides exceptional station-keeping in adverse weather and currents.

The Deep Investigator is fitted with a heave-compensated 60-on (dynamic) single derrick drill rig (GMR600). In standard mode, the rig can operate with steel drill string lengths of 800m or with aluminum up to 1200m. The rig can be upgraded for larger water depths.
