Aker Solutions has won a maintenance, modifications and operations (MMO) contract from ExxonMobil for engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance services at the Hebron oilfield offshore Canada.
The Hebron oil field is located offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada in the Jeanne d'Arc Basin 350km southeast of St. John's.
The field was first discovered in 1980, and is estimated to produce more than 700 MMbbl of recoverable resources.
The water depth at the Hebron field is 93m (mean sea level).
The Hebron field will be developed using a stand-alone concrete gravity based structure (GBS). The GBS will consist of a reinforced concrete structure designed to withstand sea ice, icebergs and meteorological and oceanographic conditions.
The GBS will be designed to store approximately 1.2 MMbbl of crude oil. The Bull Arm site is the primary construction site for the GBS. With 52-well capacity, the 180,000-tonne structure was installed July 2014. The Hebron project is set to begin producing oil in 2017.
Prior to the Aker agreement, the last Hebron contract was awarded in November 2014 to Cameron to supply subsea equipment and installation services.
