Greater Stella remains on track

Ithaca Energy's delayed Greater Stella Area development remains on track for first production in Q2 next year.

In a trading update this morning, Ithaca says sailaway of the FPF-1 floating production facility from the Remontowa Shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, is due in Q1, with commissioning works underway under contractor Petrofac.

Ithaca says full completion of the commissioning works while the vessel is in the yard is key to avoiding an extended period of more complicated offshore commissioning activities.

The FPF-1 was previously used by Hess on the North Sea Ivanhoe and Rob Roy fields.

Offshore, installation of all the subsea infrastructure required prior to the arrival of the FPF-1 is complete. A five well Stella development drilling campaign had already been completed in April 2015.

Ithaca also says it has ceased production from the Anglia gas field in the quarter and says it is likely to cease production from the Athena oil field by the end of this year, as part of a portfolio management project to remove high-cost, marginal assets. Anglia was discovered in 1985 and came ontream in 1991 via an unmanned production facility in the southern North Sea. Athena is a subsea well to floating production facility development, using the BW Athena FPSO. It was discovered in 1990 by Texaco, with first production in 2012. Net daily production capacity from the two fields is about 1000 b/d.

Stella is in Blocks 29/10a and 30/6a under license P.011. Ithaca's partners are Dyas (25.34% interest) and Petrofac (20%), with Ithaca holding the remaining 54.66%.
