Maersk Gallant to drill North Sea wildcat

Total, the operator for production license 618 in the North Sea, has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) of Norway, to drill exploration well 1/5-5 using Maersk Gallant.

Maersk Gallant is a jackup drilling facility, built at Far East Levingston Shipbuilding (FELS) in Singapore in 1993. The facility is operated by Maersk Contractors Norge. It received acknowledgement of compliance (AoC) in August 2002.

PSA Norway has now granted consent for the use of Maersk Gallant in accordance with Total's application.

The coordinates of the well will be:

  • 56° 43' 48" N
  • 02° 39' 20" E
