Polarcus starts 3D Brazil survey

Polarcus is pleased to announce the start of production in the first of a series of three 3D seismic projects offshore Brazil.

The project is being acquired using the Polarcus A-Class 3D seismic vessel Polarcus Alima.

The first project is being acquired for Chariot Oil & Gas and the duration of the combined campaign is seven months.

Chariot's project will cover about 785sq km over Chariot's 100% operated BAR-M-292, BAR-M-293, BAR-M-313 and BAR-M-314 licenses in the Barreirinhas basin.

The 3D seismic program fulfill all Chariot's commitments on the licenses.

Chariot says: "Following the analysis of legacy 2D seismic data over these blocks the company has identified a number of leads that will be targeted by the 3D survey to mature this prospectivity. The survey is anticipated to take approximately 30 days to complete."

Richard Price, Senior Vice President, North & South America, Polarcus, said: "We are delighted that our geophysical service offering and our environmental agenda have created the opportunity for delivering these projects for key clients in Brazil. The seven-month Brazilian campaign is an important element of our global strategy to maximize utilization of the Polarcus fleet through extending regional campaigns and minimizing vessel transits."
