F.lli Righini wins BP Shah Deniz umbilical handling contracts

Italian firm F.lli Righini has been awarded a new contract by BP for four umbilical handling and lay packages in the Caspian region.

The contract, awarded by BP's Shah Deniz business unit, is for the Shah Deniz Phase 2 project in the Caspian Sea.

The scope of work includes design, detailed engineering, procurement, fabrication, testing and site supervision for four separate umbilical lay packages. 

The first will be installed on a subsea construction vessel and will comprise one 1200-ton carousel, one spooling tower with 5-ton tensioner, one horizontal lay system with 50-ton tensioner, and well as electric and hydraulic power units and control unit. 

A second package will be installed on barges. Each will comprise of a 1100-ton carousel, spooling tower with 5-ton tensioner, diesel power generator, electrical and hydraulic units and control unit. 

In addition, the firm will provide an onshore umbilical storage package, including a 3500-ton carousel, loading tower, diesel power generator, umbilical roller tracks, 90° slack accumulators, 7-ton tensioner, and electrical and hydraulic units and control unit.
