Wintershall to drill Orion with Borgland Dolphin

Published

Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) has granted Wintershall Norge consent for exploration drilling at the Orion prospect in the North Sea with the Borgland Dolphin semisubmersible.

The 35/11-19S well is located in production license 248, some 98km west-south-west of Florø at 379m water depth.

Drilling is set to start in mid-May at the earliest, with an estimated duration of between 47 and 134 days. The duration will depend on whether a discovery is made, which in turn will entail drilling sidetrack wells.

Wintershall is the operator of production license 248.
