Statoil suspends Bideford Dolphin contract

Published

Statoil is suspending the use of another vessels this week, this time with Dolphin Drilling’s Bideford Dolphin mobile drilling facility.

Dolphin Drilling, a subsidiary of Fred. Olsen Energy, received notice of suspension from Statoil for the rig, which will be suspended upon completion of a current well, estimated to end at the June 2016.

The work is expected to resume beginning of October 2016. The rig will receive a suspension rate equal to 80% of operating rate during the suspension period.

In January, Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) granted Statoil consent to use the Bideford Dolphin to drill a sidetrack on the Vigdis field in production license 089 in the North Sea.

Last week, Statoil decided to suspend its contract for the Songa Delta semisubmersible drilling rig after completion of its current drilling operation at the Slemmestad well in the Norwegian North Sea.
