Statoil to use Bideford Dolphin for Vigdis sidetrack

The Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) of Norway has granted Statoil consent to use the Bideford Dolphin mobile drilling facility to drill a sidetrack on the Vigdis field in production license 089.

The planned start-up is early February and the activity is estimated to last 8 days.

The geographical coordinates are 61° 22' 44.12" N, 02° 06' 21.35" E.

Bideford Dolphin is a semisubmersible Aker H-3 drilling facility built in 1975 and operated by Dolphin . It received its acknowledgement of compliance (AoC) in September 2004.

Vigdis is an oil field in the northern North Sea, located between the Snorre, Statfjord and Gullfaks fields in the Tampen area. Water depth in the area is 280m. The field includes several discoveries and has been developed using seven subsea templates and two satellite wells tied back to Snorre A.
