Koigen Central will be drilled from the Songa Enabler drilling facility, after completing the drilling of the Norwegian giant’s Korpfjell wildcat (7435/12-1) in PL 859.

The area in this license consists of the blocks 7317/8 and 7317/9. The well will be drilled about 75km northwest of the discovery 7319/12-1 (Pingvin) and about 370km from Hammerfest.

Production license 718 was awarded in 2013 in the 22nd licensing round on the Norwegian shelf. This is the first well to be drilled in the license.

The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities prior to commencing the drilling activities.

Statoil is the operator of PL 718 with 60% interest. Partners are Dea Norge (20%) and Petoro (20%).
