Lundin's Barents Sea Hurri well dry

Lundin Petroleum's Hurri exploration well in the Norwegian southern Barents Sea was dry.

The well, 7219/12-3S, drilled using the Leiv Eiriksson semisubmersible drilling rig, in PL533, in the southern Barents Sea, was dry, says operator Lundin. The main objectives of the well were to test the reservoir properties and hydrocarbon potential of the Upper Jurassic Hekkingen formation and Middle Jurassic Stø formation.

The well encountered no reservoir development in the Hekkingen formation and good reservoir in the Stø formation, but with no indications of hydrocarbons.

The Leiv Eiriksson will now move to abandon the Filicudi discovery well, also located in PL533. Lundin has 35% working interest in PL533 with partners Aker BP (35%) and DEA Norge (30%).
