IKM has secured a pre-commissioning contract, courtesy of Subsea 7, for the Culzean gas field, offshore the UK in the central North Sea.

Subsea 7 has won the award from Maersk Oil for subsea, umbilical, riser and flowline (SURF) work.

IKM says it will make and install underwater equipment for the new Culzean gas field in Block 22/25, of the Central North Sea at a water depth of about 90m.

Engineering works have already started for the Maersk Oil Culzean project, with the first phase of offshore operations due to commence in Q2 2017.

“This is a sizeable pre-commissioning SURF project and a significant win for IKM in an extremely competitive environment,” the company says.

The Culzean gas condensate field in the UK Central North Sea is expected to produce enough gas to meet 5% of total UK demand at peak production in 2020/21.
