Det norske oljeselskap ASA has celebrated first steel cutting on both the topsides and jacket of its Ivar Aasen platform for the North Sea.

First steel for the 14,400-ton jacket was cut at Arbatax, Sardinia. Italy’s Saipem was awarded the contract for supply of the jacket, which stands 138m tall and will be installed in 112m water depth.
SMOE, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sembcorp Marine, is building the process, drilling and quarters platform topsides at its yard in Singapore, where first steel cutting was also celebrated.
SMOE is working with engineering partner Wood Group Mustang on the project.
Facilities on the 13,700-tonne topsides, which are integrated with a 70-men living quarters module cum helideck, will include modules for process, gas compression, separation, water injection, flare boom, metering and utilities.
Topsides sail-away is scheduled for March 2016. First oil is expected in the fourth quarter of 2016.
Ivar Aasen is west of the Johan Sverdrup-field in the Norwegian North Sea, 180km west of Stavanger. It contains about 150MM boe.
