Aibel begins Sverdrup DSM module work

Aibel cut the first steel for the DSM module for Statoil’s Johan Sverdrup drilling platform at its Haugesund yard, where a busy period awaits until the platform is completed in 2018.

Aibel expects to finish the DSM module come summer 2017. Afterwards, the assembly with the remaining two modules constituting the Johan Sverdrup drilling platform will begin.

The DSM module is the second largest of the platform's three modules. It will consist of a number of smaller sections produced at Aibel in Haugesund and at sub-supplier Vistal in Poland. At the same time as the event in Haugesund, the fabrication also started in Poland.

"The entire project is very important to Aibel, and this start-up of the DSM module is particularly important to the yard in Haugesund. Here, a busy and exciting period lies ahead, where we have to maintain focus on safety, quality and delivery on time," Nils Arne Hatleskog, Aibel EVP field development said.
