Transocean Reports New Contracts

The world's second largest offshore drilling contractor Transocean has revealed three new contract awards and a pair of extensions for the last quarter in its latest fleet status report.

The Switzerland-based offshore driller said in the status report that it added approximately $158 million in contract backlog, bringing total backlog to $11.4 billion, since its last report.

The 2009-built semi-submersible rig Transocean Barents has been awarded a three-well contract, with three one-well options, by Equinor in Canada.

Off India, Reliance has exercised a 365-day option for the ultra-deepwater drillship Dhirubhai Deepwater KG1. The day rate starting in November is $127,000.

Discoverer India is awarded a 120-day contract plus six one-well options in Egypt and Leiv Eriksson customer exercised two one-well options in the Norwegian North Sea.

In the US Gulf of Mexico, the drillship Deepwater Asgard has been awarded a two-well contract by Murphy Oil Corporation.
