i-Tech 7 to Support Aberdeen Students

Tuesday, May 28, 2019

Subsea 7’s Life of Field business unit i-Tech 7 has signed a partnership agreement with an Aberdeen school to help prepare pupils for working life.

Teams from the company’s Greenwell Facility will work with Lochside Academy, based in Altens, through the ‘Developing the Young Workforce’ (DYW) North East Programme. DYW helps build meaningful partnerships between employers and education to benefit young people.

As part of the partnership, the company has already provided support through its internship program, awarding an academy pupil a trainee designer position for the summer. i-Tech 7 teams have also mentored pupils ahead of the MATE ROV competition and agreed to sponsor an award and prizes for the school’s annual awards ceremony for the following five years.

Over the next few months, the company will offer further work experience opportunities for Lochside pupils and continue to work with the school to identify opportunities for i-Tech 7 to support young adults with their development.

Bruce Masson, Services Division Director for i-Tech 7, said, “As a key employer in the region, we are passionate about supporting the local community and recognise the importance of our involvement in the development of enterprise in education. As a result, we have committed to supporting Lochside Academy through assisting in the improvement of pupil achievement and preparation for working life.

“During the remainder of 2019, we will offer further work experience opportunities for academy pupils and continue to work with the school to identify opportunities to support young adults with their development.”

Lochside Academy headteacher, Neil Hendry, added, “This partnership will create outstanding opportunities for the young people of Lochside to engage with the world of work while in education and also create exciting career pathways beyond school.”
