GE Oil & Gas will deliver its gas turbine-driven compressor train technology for a Petronas FLNG project slated for startup in 4Q 2015 offshore Malaysia. To be Asia’s first FLNG project, the facility will be moored about 180km off the coast of Bintulu, Sarawak. The facility will be able to produce 1.2mtpa, and Petronas expects the project to boost Malaysia’s total LNG output capacity from its current level of 25.7mtpa to 26.9mtpa. As part of the liquefaction process, GE’s compression train cools natural gas to a liquid state. Under the deal, GE will supply four of its PGT25+G4 gas turbine generator systems, two PGT25+G4 gas turbine driven compressor units and two electric motor driven centrifugal compressors modules. GE is scheduled to deliver its equipment to Malaysia in August 2013.
