STX Offshore contract for Bestobel

Bestobell Valves, part of the President Engineering Group, has secured a major new contract with STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Co Ltd, based in South Korea, to supply globe and check valves for two LNG carriers, on behalf of Alpha Tankers.
 
From its high precision manufacturing site in Sheffield, England, Bestobell Valves will supply cryogenic valves for nitrogen inert systems and cargo containment systems, as part of an agreement worth up to $2m.
 
Bestobell Valves was selected because of its expertise in producing high quality cryogenic valves for the shipbuilding industry and has worked extensively across the Far East.  The contract will see the valves delivered towards the end of 2013, with Bestobell’s team also supplying technical support and back-up.  
 
Mark Henley, Managing Director of Bestobell Valves, said: “This is a very exciting contract win and is testament to the quality of our valves and the technical support we provide.  This contract is part of our push to gain a greater share of the cryogenic valve market for new LNG carriers and it is great to be working with STX on this major new project.” 
 
Bestobell Valves has been a world-leader in the manufacture of cryogenic valves for industrial gas applications for over 50 years and has over 10 years’ experience in supplying to the LNG marine markets.  Bestobell’s Valves are widely used on LNG Carriers, FPSOs  (Floating Production Storage Offshore) and FSRUs (Floating Storage Re-gasification Unit).  The company designs and produces valves to meet specific requirements and has supplied to all the major shipyards building LNG Carriers around the world.
