Costain, Hurricane develop Lancaster EPS

UK engineering solutions provider Costain has worked closely with Hurricane Energy to produce a number of field development options for their Lancaster Discovery, West of Shetland.

Over the last 24 months the Costain team, in collaboration with Hurricane, has refined these original concepts to define an initial development concept based around an early production system (EPS).  The primary objectives of the EPS are to gain additional knowledge of the reservoir and minimise capital exposure, whilst providing an economic return on the capital invested.

The EPS concept takes into account the current low oil price environment which has necessitated the development of novel solutions and cost saving initiatives.

“Costain’s evaluation work has played a significant role in the decision to implement an early production system on the Lancaster field, which will drive the progression of this innovative project and not only allow for a true understanding of reservoir performance but – critically – will  also deliver an economic return on investment so far," Peter Kirkbride, Costain Sr account manager said.
