Helicopter operator CHC Group has signed a contract to provide Providence Resources helicopter services in support of its exploration well program on the Druid/Drombeg prospect in frontier exploration license 2/14 of the southern Porcupine Basin, some 215km off the southwest coast of Ireland.

The contract will see a dedicated Sikorsky S-92 flying out of Cork Airport, beginning this June, working in conjunction with LR as the wells project management company.

Providence Resources is set to drill a wildcat targeting the multi-billion bbl potential of both the Druid and Drombeg offshore Ireland this summer.

Providence says that the Stena IceMAX drillship is scheduled to start drilling operations in June, subject to the normal regulatory consents.
