Sapura Energy’s SK310 B15 gas field development project offshore Malaysia remains on track for first production in Q4 2017, the company announced in its 19 June earnings update.

Despite a challenging market due to oil price uncertainty, Sapura “has been able to consistently demonstrate competitiveness by securing and reliably executing projects globally,” the company said. Sapura – formerly known as SapuraKencana Energy -- was able to generate profits before tax of US$24.3 million (RM104 million) for the quarter ended 30 April 2017, and has secured new projects in key markets in Southeast Asia, Australia and India.

Located offshore East Malaysia in the SK310 production sharing contract area, the B15 field is expected to produce 100 MMscf/d of hydrocarbon gas for Petronas' LNG complex in Bintulu, Sarawak.
