Cluff signs up consultant for UCG project

Underground coal gasificatoin (UCG) focused firm Cluff Natural Resources (CLNR) has taken on an environmental and planning consultant for its proposed Kindcardine project in the Firth of Forth, Scotland.

Environmental Resources Management (ERM) will work with CLNR's geological and drilling consultants to prepare an application for planning approval for the proposed Project, working from its Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices.

ERM will carry out work including site screening and selection, environmental impact assessment, hydrogeological modeling, stakeholder and regulatory support as well as advising on permitting requirements.

CLNR says the project and the planning process represent an important step towards the commercialization of the Company’s portfolio of UCG licenses.

Algy Cluff, CLNR's chairman and CEO, says: "We recently announced a JORC-compliant coal resource at the license and it has been identified and selected as an ideal site for a UCG project.  The appointment of ERM as our environmental and planning consultants is a key development as we advance towards planning approval and unlocking of the massive energy potential of this significant asset and the coal which surrounds our shores."
